I live in Europe and have been an active part of the #eventprofs Twitter group for about a year. In March, I will be moving back to the US. I thought EventCamp would be a good opportunity to connect with the others in the Twitter group face-to-face.
The EventCamp format and content appealed to me, because I am passionate about using social media and interactive meeting technology to tap into the ideas, wisdom and talents of the attendees. Since EventCamp is a first of its kind - I thought that I didn't want to miss it.
Also, I got a killer deal on the airline ticket. Thanks Continental!
"Hi David - It looks like you have some great feedback. Here are some other observations.I don't consume digital content the same way that I consume paper-based magazines. Online I don't have attention for long articles that don't use subtitles and images to break up the content. When I see a full page of written text - I usually skip it. Having said that - when I do find something that I like..."
"@christina - thanks for your sharing your ideas and fears. I am going to add them to the "fish food" cards that I am making for the session.@jon - Sweet. Looking forward to checking out Live Tweets and seeing Ray get his picture taken with Touristbot!@Ray - The success of my session will not be based on me talking - but based on the wonderful ideas and insights from the audience members."
"Hi Swan, My Goals are the following:(1) Connect with our #eventprofs Tribe. This is the main reason that I am coming to NYC. So, all of the extra dinners, hallway conversations, opportunities for a beer, etc will be interesting for me.(2) Have engaging discussions on Social Media and Technology in Events.(3) Participate in the first ever Event Camp. Would like to see if the model has legs for o..."
"Hi Mike,After I made my last comment, I logged into Google Wave and saw that there is a parallel conversation starting there around this hybrid events session. It brought up a couple of questions for me around engaging the "virtual attendee" and pre-event conversations.(1) Under what circumstances would you want to move a session discussion from the Conference community to another platform - li..."
"Hi Deborah, I would love to connect with you and whomever else is talking about this. I have seen a few models - but I am curious to learn more about them. (Sadly - my fishbowl session is at the same time as this one. So, I can't be in both places at once.)"
"@Tony - If we need a plan "C" then I say that we go with Bubble-gum-bubble-gum...good call!@Mike - Thanks Mike - I am looking forward to meeting you. You are quite a character!@Paul - Thanks for your thoughtful comment. Especially considering you had the big event yesterday. I really like how you are integrating social media into the "conversation stream" in-and-around your events. I think this..."
"Hi All, I will be leading a discussion on using Social Media Onsite during an event. After a short introduction of the topic, we will use the "fishbowl" technique as a collaborative discussion format. The fishbowl technique allows everyone to participate in the discussion. There will be 5 chairs in the middle of the room. Four of those chairs will be occupied. The 4 people in the fishbowl will ..."
